Finally got my venomous license and my first venomous snake. It's an African horned viper (Cerastes cerastes). Here are a few pics. It's an adult and a lot smaller than I thought it would be. They don't get more than 2 feet, but it just seems smaller in person than in pics. She/he is very cool. Not sure of sex, but previous owner seems to think its female. Definitely my favorite snake that I have now...

Robin: I don't use gloves to handle her... I have a hook and tongs to do that.

Larry: So far she hasn't buried herself in the sand. When she does I don't think it takes long. They kinda shake and then sink in.

Scott: I'm very careful. And only slightly crazy...but not for keeping the snake.

Well, to my surprise she shed tonight. Pretty exciting. I can't remember the last time I was excited over a snake shed. Anyway, videos to come as soon as they are uploaded to youtube....

Not sure what you mean, Robin. She shed just like any other snake. The skin you see after she shed is inside out.

Well in the video it looked like she was just shimming right out of it, it was kinda funny like she was just vibrating in the sand and worming her way out at one point in the video. I guess it was just me, maybe my medicine kicked in earlier than usual last night LOL.
