A Few Pics

Post  Barry on Thu Mar 01, 2012 12:08 pm

The unusually mild winter has allowed me to get some good field time, and eased the cabin fever I usually get.....

Ravine/stream habitat, Southern Indiana

This requires investigation....

Two Lined Salamander

Riparian Habitat, Southern Indiana

Common Map Turtle, same area

Relaxing in the sun

Railroad ties and bundles of old ones can house racers....but not today

Kentucky Corn, found under tin, from last year

Profile

Milksnake, Eastern/Red intergrade, also from Kentucky

A bit closer

I've heard frogs, but can't see them. I also hope somebody is about to emerge from that hillside.

Good herping everyone!

Great shots Barry.

That first one should be enlarged, framed and hung in a den.

Really nice.

Love that corn snake and milk snake.

Fantastic shots! I also love that corn snake and milk snake!
I haven't had as much luck this season as of yet... Just a Flat-headed Snake, Rough Earth Snake, two Texas Brown Snakes, and several Five-lined Skinks so far.

Thanks everyone, I think a Flat head, or any Tantilla would be a "lifer" for me. Also looking
forward to those Austin pics!

Yeah, I was really excited about it (as was the grad student herpetologist that was with me)! This was actually the third flat-headed snake that I have seen in the wild. Very Happy But I still do tend to enjoy catching the larger snakes (even the really common ones) than the tiny little terrestrial/fossorial species! lol
