Dart Frog Discussion/Lecture
So I'm going to be giving a lecture on darts at the upcoming OCHS meeting in April and I was wondering what you guys would be interested in knowing? I've got quite a few ideas of what to discuss but I was curious if there is anything you'd like me to bring or show you how to do?
I'll certainly cover the basics (care/husbandry, breeding, rearing tads/froglets, food, vivariums..etc) I'd like to go into a little bit on the various genera of darts and specific care information regarding each genus.
Again if there's anything you guys would like to see or to know then just let me know and i'll try to incorporate it!

Re: Dart Frog Discussion/Lecture
I think, for me the biggest challenge and the only real reason I don't have any right now is vivarium set-up. Building false bottoms, water and fogging systems, which plants are ok to be there etc. Along the plant lines, I am not good with plants at all. I recently bought a venus fly trap and proceded to kill it in UNDER A WEEK!!
So, for me, vivarium set up and maintenance are #1.
The next important one to me would be which species are more bold and will actually stay out where we can see them versus hiding all day long....
I hope I can make it to your presentation. I think my work shift will change by then and I can make it....

Thanks for the input! That's something i'd be glad to go over and show you guys personally how to do. It's really easy and rewarding once you get the hang of it!
I have a black thumb, so to speak as well-but over the past few years of viv building i've learned to tame it down and actually keep plenty of plants alive-it is possible!!
Boldness of a species is a great one! I'll be sure to cover that in depth.
I hope you can make it too!

Vivarium set up is what I would like to know about.

Re: Dart Frog Discussion/Lecture
I would love to teach you guys how to build some great vivariums! I will be sure to make that a good part of the discussion/lecture.
Re: Dart Frog Discussion/Lecture
Josh,
We've been looking fpr someone to give a program on vivarium construction for some time.
In an effort to not put too much program content into one meeting, would you be willing to give a separate program on vivarium construction on another date.
Or give vivarium construction first and dart frog herpetoculture later ?
That way you wouldn't be rushed to get all the information into one program.
The herpetoculture of dart frogs and vivarium construction seems like too much for one program.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks again.

Re: Dart Frog Discussion/Lecture
I'll take April and may.
Do you guys have a preference to which lecture comes first?

Re: Dart Frog Discussion/Lecture
I would suggest vivariums first, that way we can all set up our vivs and will be ready to add frogs to them after the frog meeting.
Re: Dart Frog Discussion/Lecture
As long as it's my frogs you're adding ;-)
Let's do "Vivarium Construction"-lecture title, on April 21st
And the dart lecture on May 19th
