New Bearded Dragon
This is Maximus, my new Bearded Dragon that I won as a raffle ticket prize!
He is a Citrus/Red Sandfire Bearded Dragon, and he is a lot of fun!
Here is his enclosure.

I think the caption for the last pic should be..."Try to take my log, I dare you."

Sure like baby beardies. They seem to show no fear.

Yeah, I was totally shocked about how brave he is! I thought he'd be more like most other lizards his size (trying to run from every movement), but he just sits there when I reach my hand in the cage to pick him up!

Re: New Bearded Dragon
Looks like you have him set up nicely. However, when he was with me, he would taste EVERYTHING, so you might want to use something besides sand for the substrate right now. It will probably be fine for him when he is older, but since this one likes to lick everything, I wouldn't keep him on sand right now.
Re: New Bearded Dragon
When I had baby beardies, I would take broken pieces of slate and push them into the sand in kind of a jigsaw pattern to cover the sand. After they got a little bigger I just pulled out some of the pieces (except around food bowl. That way you don't have to dump out sand.

Oh, I hadn't even thought about that! I did notice that he liked to lick stuff. I haven't seen him taste any of the sand, but I have seen him taste that log (and my finger when I go to pick him up).
I guess I'll change out the substrate, but I can't do that until this weekend (when i get home), unless Lydia will do it for me.
I have been feeding him in a separate container though, so he wouldn't ingest any when feeding.
Thanks for the advice!

Not trying to tell you what to do, just letting you know what I would do, considering this specific lizard's behavior.

Oh, yes, I understand!
I greatly appreciate the advice! This was something that had just completely slipped my mind.
I am always open to advice and criticism, it is very helpful.
