Burmese Python Length
What is the longest Burmese you have or know of? Some of the media seems to be exaggerating their size to help the hype. I've dealt with some pretty big Burms, but I'm curious to hear from those that are long-time keepers/breeders.

My big female normal (Luci) is in the neighborhood of 12 feet...a big old puppy dog! She is about to be 4 years old and is my wifes baby!!!

Re: Burmese Python Length
I was wondering about this. I've seen a handful of truly HUGE burmese--Pro Exotics used to display one that was at least 16' in their shop, Reptile Gardens used to have some good sized ones in the upper teens as well. But most I've seen have been *much* smaller--Bananas, Lucy, the ones at the zoo here...I've seen more burms, even well cared for, at 14' and under than 15'+. I'd say that 80%+ of the burms I've seen were 10-14'.

LOL. Wish it ate politicians in Florida, ok politicians anywhere, instead of children!
Thanks guys. The largest one I've been hands on with was a well-cared for adult female that was about 13.5 to 14' and I was thinking 12-13' was more the average than the 15' +.

Re: Burmese Python Length
I'd agree. It's weird; the length on them (and retics) gets overplayed...but at the same time until you actually deal with a snake that size there's no context at all for it. I mean, a 14' retic is an entirely different experience than a 10' boa...the length is overstated but I think a lot of people don't understand just how much snake that can really be.

Well said. And most of the time my 8' boa is a lot less snake than my coachwip and black ratsnakes.

Re: Burmese Python Length
Ft Worth Zoo has one that I would guess is in the 16ft range. Bob Clark has had some monster females in the past, and one male that topped out at 18ft.
