The male tiger salamander died last night. I was at my computer and heard quite a bit of flopping and splashing from their tank. I got curious so turned on the light and the male appeared dead. I pulled him out and started massaging his chest and he moved, raised his head and I felt muscle resistance. This went on about 4 times but was not able to revive him the last time. He was healthy looking so it's a mystery what happened. I am really fond of this species.

Dr. Minson has the salamander. He sometimes uses deceased critters to video and show examples for his programs to vet students. If he ever discovers what caused the cute, smiley little guy to die he'll let me know.

I'm changing the setup of my salamander tank to half terrestrial and half water. Planning on affixing a 12" x 3 1/2 " glass divider in the 20 gal. tank and adding substrate so the female will have more land to burrow in.

That must have been so frustrating for you, Alice--all your efforts to save him being unsuccessful, not knowing why he was dying . . . I'm so sorry.
