Pac Man Frog doesn't eat
How often do they eat? I bought my daughter a PM frog last Friday. It's about the size of a silver dollar and ate a superworm as soon as we brought it home, but since then it hasn't seemed interested in eating anything. I've offered the superworms and dubia roaches and it just ignores them. Do they wait a while between feedings or should I just try some other food?
Thanks.
Thanks.

From my limited experience with this species, pacman frogs don't seem to eat as readily as other frogs. I would just continue to offer food every day. If it doesn't eat within about 10 minutes, remove the food and try again the next day. When the frog settles in, it should start eating more regularly.

Jonah,
For what it's worth, I wouldn't feed it anymore superworms.
Substiture about 1/3 of a nightcrawler and alternate those with appropriate sized Dubias.
Superworms can be bad news for some species of herps especially if the head is not crushed during the swallowing process.
Frogs and toads usually swallow their prey items whole.

I agree. I feed my pixie frog superworms every now and then, but I always just pop the head off first. Amphibians LOVE nightcrawlers.

How's it going with the Pacman frog? Is it eating better for you now?
We got a Pacman frog about a couple weeks ago and the guy that we got him from had been feeding it only pinky mice. They also had his tank set up with neon colored aquarium gravel all over the bottom and tap water filled up to the level of the gravel.
I have since changed his substrate and offered him crickets. He has eaten a couple crickets, but I have not gotten him to eat a pinky for me yet. I intend to only offer him a pinky once a week or maybe every two weeks. I just put the crickets in the tank with him.
I've tried putting the pinky in there too but he shows no interest. I've been told that I might try putting him in a separate container where it's only him and the pinky and see how that works, but I would think that would stress him even more and make him less likely to eat???

It seems healthy enough, but I've never actually seen him eat. I put an earthworm in the tank a couple times a week and it's gone when I check it again. I'm switching it to a 10g tank with less substrate, maybe it'll be easier to see if it's eating the worms then.

That's how mine is... I haven't actually "seen" him eat. But the crickets can't get out and I'm pretty sure I caught him just as he had swallowed one of the crickets. I saw his mouth and heard crunching, but I missed the actual catching of the cricket.
His tank conditions are good.... He's in a 10 gallon tank. The substrate gives him one side of the tank that is dry and the other is damp and he is able to burrow down so that only top of him is visible.
I just keep a few crickets in the tank with him and then I try every few days to get him to eat a pinky/fuzzy. I'm sure he'll eventually take it

Yep. They are stubborn eaters, especially when it comes to rodents. They don't seem to need food as often as other frogs. If you want something that will eat regularly (and try to take of a finger or two), get a pixie.
