bull snake?

I was out late tonight looking around and found a snake that was dark with light bands. I didn't have the brightest flashlight in the world and I'm guessing it was a bullsnake. It could flatten its head out like a triangle, had a orangish tail, and stunk really really bad. I wasn't able to capture a pic of it and I thought it was venomous until I saw the eyes was rounded. I thought it was cool how it could flatten its head like that.

Sounds like a black rat/texas rat. Bull snakes that I've seen are usually mostly light with a dark pattern and not the other way around.

Ok thanks. I need to get an oklahoma field guide. It was an interesting snake. If I see another I'm gonna try to catch it and take some pics.

I'm jealous. I've only ever found 1 adult black rat snake and 0 adult bull snakes field herping. For those to be so common in OK, they sure do hide well on the days that I go looking for snakes.

I'm having a pretty good year so far. I want to catch a bull frog just to look at but never have caught one before. Like I told Larry we should do a night hunt out here sometime or somewhere else.

Bullfrogs are really hard to catch, unless you don't mind going for a swim. I lucked out on the one I caught for the youth camp because it was pouring down rain outside, and he must have gotten confused and thought the road was part of the creek. If you just want to see one up close, you should come to the youth camp.

Where's that being held at? I'm sure the location has been posted.

Midwest City Library on June 11th from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Everybody needs to wear name tags so I will know who's who that day (just kidding). But it would be nice to know all the people I talk to on here
