Exciting News!
I just thought that I would share some news that is very exciting to me.
I recently got permission from my parents for me to purchase a pair of both Rhino Rat Snakes (Rhynchophis boulengeri) and Thai Red Bamboo Rat Snakes (Oreocryptophis porphyraceus coxi)! I have been emailing Rob Stone from High Plains Herpetoculture (rhinorats.com) back and forth several times a week for about the past month or two, and I have it all set up for me to get a pair of 2011 coxi (they will have the same father, but different mother), and a 2010 male Rhino and a 2011 female rhino (hopefully the rhinos will be completely unrelated)! This is assuming that production goes well for him though! lol They won't be available until around late August, as eggs haven't even been laid yet.
Anyways, Rob is giving me some pretty nice deals, and he has provided me with TONS of first hand experience regarding the captive care and breeding for both of these species! I am VERY excited to get these! I just hope I can come up with all the $!

Re: Exciting News!
Larry, I don't think so! lol I think I will keep the coxi!
Yeah, I just can't wait for him to get eggs, and then I will still have to wait for the eggs to hatch! Grrrr! Too bad it won't be until August!
I will definitely post pics when I do get them in this summer!
Oh, Lydia, I am sorry. lol But you were completely for me getting them!

Cameron,
Have you forgotten, "it's more blessed to give than to receive".
(From you to me of course; not from me to you. I'm trying every
angle I can think of here.)

Maybe in a few years you could buy a baby coxi from me! I plan on breeding them when big enough. They grow very quickly from what I have heard, and they reach sexual maturity very fast! Some successful breedings just over like a year old!
I would be sure to charge you twice as much as other available coxi are at the time! lol jk

Re: Exciting News!
Oh, I definitely won't over feed them or anything. I have just read from a lot of people that the coxi and the Latacinctus grow at fast rates for some reason. I also won't even consider breeding them (no matter how big they are) until after at least two years (most likely I will wait three).Snakeman wrote:"They grow very quickly from what I have heard, and they reach sexual maturity very fast! I was just saying that to show everyone just how fast they grow/how young they can successfully reproduce.
-Trust me, the last thing I want is to kill my snakes with my first attempt at breeding them!
