African Dwarf Frogs
Here are my latest herps that I aquired. I have six of them. I was going to setup a nano reef aquarium then decided to get these guys instead, after all I couldn't possibly have kept fish in a herp room. LOL

Re: African Dwarf Frogs
Cool!! I had not seen the normal version of these. Bryan S. has some at AA, but they are albino. Definitely better than fish.

Interesting frogs! What do you feed them?

Re: African Dwarf Frogs
Thanks for all of the comments guys. Michael these are dwarf versions and won't get as big as the albinos at AA. These will get up to 1.5 to 2 inches and the ones at AA can reach up to 5 inches. Right now they are eating frozen bloodworms. I tried frog pellet food and they would not touch it. So now they just eat the bloodworms. They are a lot of fun to watch. The other day two of them were pulling on the same bloodworm and neither would let go until the worm ripped in half. They also sing a lot at night. I have even seen two of the smaller light colored ones grab the larger ones as if they were trying to mate, hopefully by getting six, I will end up with a couple of pairs. Anyone else want babies if they reproduce. They really are easy to take care of. My setup is a 10gal marineland LED hooded aquarium with day and nightlight features, a penguin 100 biowheel filter, heater to keep temp around 78, sand for substrate, several artificial plants, rocks, and two small terra cotta pots for hides. I had live plants in there for about a week and the frogs destroyed the leaves and kept clogging the filter intake, so I have artificials in there now.

"sand for substrate"
Bryan,
What are you doing using particulate substrate ?
Couldn't resist.

Well Larry I was listening to your infinite wisdom and used papertowel, but my darn filter kept clogging up. LOL. I couldn't resist either Larry.

Re: African Dwarf Frogs
Regretfully, all of the little frogs died. I had my aquarium water tested to see if that was the cause, but it was not. The water actually tested almost perfect and tested with the same readings I got with my test strips. There were also no signs of disease or fungus on their skin. I am at a loss as to how they died and so was the lady at Petsmart where I bought them. So now I am looking for a new animal for the tank once I get it cleaned out. I am seriously wanting a Ornate Horned frog/ Pacman frog.

Re: African Dwarf Frogs
Man, that really stinks. Sorry to here that. Good choice though on a new "replacement" amphibian. I think the horned frogs are really cool!

Re: African Dwarf Frogs
Sorry to hear that Bryan. It always sucks when a critter dies.
I used to want a PacMan too, but I've changed my mind, and now I want a Pixie. Have you looked into those? I got to babysit the one that was in the raffle a while back and she was super fun to keep. If I ever find a good deal on a baby, I'm going to get one.

Re: African Dwarf Frogs
Those are cool Michael, but I like the Pac man frogs better since they keep most of their color throughout their lives, and the pixies get a drab colored green as adults.
