Ball python burrowing in substrate
The other day I changed the eco earth in my savannah cage and had some left over and already hydrated, so I went ahead and used it to change Monty's cage substrate. Up to this point he has been on repti bark with no issues, but I thought I would try the eco earth and he seems like he really likes it much better since it is softer and holds humidity better, and he is now trying to burrow in it constantly. He never did that in the reptibark even though it was not good for burrowing, he just never tried to burrow. He does not have any issues, but I am wondering how many others have seen similar actions from their Ball python or other snakes after changing the substrate from one type to another.

I haven't noticed that with my ball python, but all of my colubrids LOVE the aspen that I switched to from Repti-Bark. They make little tunnels everywhere. My BP is so fat that she just makes compressed trails in the aspen LOL.
