GBB Eggsac !
So after talking on the phone with Steve it appears the bigger of my 2 adult female GBB made a huge egg sac in the past couple days. Apparently a fire in the house and being moved to Steve's place didn't stop her. For those of you who have been tracking my breeding posts she is also the one that ate the male for a snack after mating. Wish me luck.

She ended up eating it already, sucks but thats how it goes sometimes. I still have another adult female who could be making one sometime soon.

Oh, No! I'm so sorry to hear that. Do you suppose she felt the egg sac wasn't in a safe location? Too much traffic near her enclosure?
Do GBBs ever move their egg sacs to different locations? Or is it a case of once attached, it stays there?
I actually know almost zilch about them, but I am very curious!

Sometimes tarantulas will eat their egg sacs with seemingly no reason at all. It is probably stress related, but it is impossible for us to tell what the cause is sometimes.
Tarantulas carry their egg sacs around with them and usually only let go of them to eat. The spiderlings need the sac to be rotated frequently to develop properly.
Re: GBB Eggsac !
That's interesting! Not all spiders do that, right? I know birds & fowl rotate their eggs, but snake eggs shouldn't be rotated. I find the diversity of ways eggs develop fascinating (along with many other things!).The spiderlings need the sac to be rotated frequently to develop properly.
