Leopard Gecko Eating Paper Towels

Is there no safe substrate for these things? This is ridiculous. One of my geckos has decided that she likes to eat the paper towel substrate. I caught her doing it this morning. I'm planning on getting some repti-carpet today, and hopefully she won't try to eat that. If so, I might just have to use tile. There was a bowl full of mealworms and she wanted to eat paper. Goofy critter.

yeah thats weird man. Havent seen that one. Repticarpet is great but they can their nails caught in it. other than that its great. gotta love the quirkey things they do.

Never heard of that before.
Believe it or not I never used paper towels with my leos.
All I used was Repticarpet and I never had any problems
with it, but if that leo of yours bites the Repticarpet, he/she
may get their teeth hung in it.

I guess she is "special" . She only seems to like the parts of the paper towel that have ripped and are sticking up, of course she did the ripping too. As long as the repticarpet stays flat, I don't think she will try to eat it. I might be better off going with tile.

I seem to attract animals that like to eat weird things. My dachshound cost us about $2000 in surgery bills because she liked to eat rope when she was little.

Don't knock it until you've tried it Larry. Sushi is great! And I don't mean Chinese buffet sushi. I'm talking about the good stuff. I'm going to have to take you to Sumo or Okura sometime.

Me too. I could eat it for 3+ meals per day, and I did when I visited Japan. If you love sushi, you should really plan a trip there someday.

We should start a support group for owners of animals with pica .

Well our dog hasn't eaten paper yet, but we had to take a toy away from her today since we found parts of it shredded and missing. She must have eaten it, since we can't find the parts anywhere. It was an elephant with a rope in the middle of it, and now its missing feet and an ear.

I have had issues with Leos eating paper towels. So I swithced to newspaper.

As for sushi, I put it on a hook and use it for fish bait. Its not as rare as people think, you can find sushi at any bait shop in Americal.

I have yet to find BBQ eel, boiled octopus, squid, tuna, salmon, red snapper, or any other common sushi fish at a bait shop. I didn't think I would like it either, but once you get over the "this is raw fish" stigma, it really does taste good. It's no different than getting over the "this is a dead cow" stigma of eating steak, or "this is old milk with bacteria in it" of eating cheese.
