Vacation to Colorado and New Mexico
My family and I went on a vacation to New Mexico and Colorado last week. I was able to herp some while there!
We went road cruising three different nights, two of those nights we didn't find any live snakes. On the third night it had been much better weather for road cruising, so we had a few finds.
Here is a cool young Western Diamondback Rattlesnake found on the edge of a road in Eastern New Mexico.
We also came across a Kansas Glossy Snake. I caught it at night, but then kept it over-night to photograph in the morning.
Woodhouse's Toad.
After a rain there were many Couch's Spadefoots on the road.
I went herping in the day some as well.
Here's a Fence Lizard.
Collard Lizard.
Plains Garter Snake.
A very shy Ornate Box Turtle.
A cool Giant Desert Milipede!
I saw a ton of lizards, but I wasn't patient enough to try to sneek up on any to get any really good pictures. lol
There were mainly fence lizards and collard lizards, but I also saw a Common Checkered Whiptail Lizard (which I chased around for a while, but I was unable to catch it).
In Colorado I didn't see many herps, but here are some pics from in Colorado.
Thanks for looking! Hope you liked the pictures.
