First Morphed Out D. Auratus
I'm pretty excited to show you guys these pics. It's been super fun raising these guys from little black dots into what you see in the pics. These 4 have absorbed their tails and are breathing air and eating fruitflies now. They have 2 siblings from the same clutch, but one of them has something weird going on with its front legs (possibly SLS, but maybe just a birth defect) and the other one is taking its time with the tail absorbing, but otherwise is looking great. On the one with the leg issue, it can use its front legs to climb the container, which makes me think it isn't SLS, but just a birth defect that may not be fatal. Time will tell. There are always issues like this with breeding large numbers of critters, and my odds are pretty good with only 1 defect and 2 bad eggs out of 32 total.
Anyway, here are the pics:
This one has a very mottled pattern with lots of black and dark blue still present. I don't know if the colors will change much with age. He/she could turn out pretty cool if the black gets darker with age.
This one is a typical Panama Blue and Black D. auratus with light blue and irregular black spots.
This one is the brightest of the bunch, and was the first to morph out. Super bright blue and dark black. So cool.
This one is my favorite out of these first 4. Bright blue on the sides and a solid black stripe down the back.
Thanks for looking! Expect about 25 more pics of babies in the next few weeks, more if these frogs don't stop mating. I swear they are like rabbits
