Re: Georgia Roundup May End!
Man. I really needed this after the python mess. It's awesome to see something positive going on for snakes. It would be great if the OK roundups follow this path as well. That may be a good project for OCHIS to help with in the future...

Barry,
Thanks for posting that link.
It's nice to read good news that concerns snakes and their conservation.
On a related note, OCHIS has been or record as opposing / not supporting or
condoning "Rattlesnake Roundups" for several years.
However, some of our members work at these "roundups" and any effort on the part
of our society to assist other organizations in the "reinventing" of these activities
would need to be proceeded by a vote of the membership.

Of course. They would have to be thinking of changing first anyway. Just wishful thinking on my part.

"Just wishful thinking on my part."
Michael,
I think there are a lot of us who feel the same way you do.
Personally, I'd really like to see some of the activities at "Rattlesnake Roundups" come
to an end.
I wish all the communities around the country that host "Rattlesnake Roundups"
would follow Claxton's lead.
Wishful thinking on my part also.

Re: Georgia Roundup May End!
thanks guys.....I find the story encouraging. I don't know if OK. or TX. can ever end the slaughter, but some attitudes are changing
in certain areas. I think grass roots effort and meeting people where they are in life can play a part.
I know from experience that out of an entire day of effort, whether it's a local event, or a "keeper talk", or just sharing your
animals with a neighbor, many will pass you by with no consideration, but somebody, maybe one or three, will be impacted
by that time and experience. Keep the faith.
