Surprise on doorstep

Came home from running errands and was surprised to find Chief on my front doorstep. My first thought: Why did he come to the front door, he must know this is his territory, how did he climb three steps, and how did he escape the pen and the perimeter fence? I knew he liked being in the house but this is ridiculous. Maybe he got out of the fences and was wandering out in front and a neighbor put him on my front porch. But who? I found where he escaped the pen but the rest is a mystery.

Wow, Alice. I am so glad that he ended up on your doorstep rather than out in a road where he could be hit by a car or completely lost! Surely one of your neighbors saw him out loose and knew that he belonged with you!
