New owner of a corn snake
Hi. My oldest daughter just bought a corn snake and habitat from an individual. We will try to get pictures up soon but right now, I don't have a way to do so since our camera is missing at the moment. She has her snake in a 29 gallon tank on a really nice wooden stand (saw a similar if not the same one on amazon for around $500). and has hides on both sides, a light, heating pad, etc. The snake has a pretty good life with an 11 year old to pack her around every day (except after eating for a couple days). I figured we would say hi and introduce ourselves. She has wanted a snake since she was a toddler and we finally let her spend her own money and do just that. Her sister was given a rosy boa and I posted about that in the other forum. We are on a new adventure with these snakes but it is worth it and the girls know this is a long term commitment (as do I if things for some reason go south when the girls grow up). Hopefully we can make it to a meeting eventually but most of our extra funds go towards all of our animals and keeping 4 kids schooled at home.

Glad to hear your starting her out right! When I would say something about wanting one, my mother would reply, "when you get your own house you can get whatever you want!" Needless to say she's still to this day scared of snakes. I don't get company at my house. lol

Re: New owner of a corn snake
Yea, my 9 year old was reading a facebook conversation over my shoulder earlier and she said she just doesnt understand why anyone would have a problem with snakes. I heard that growing up as well about a lot of things and my brother heard it about having a snake at the time too. I love the fact that we could do this for our girls and let them experience this at home. The corn snake is named Ruby by the way and has already taken a trip to the county fair for the pet show. Fun stuff.

How funny, didn't ever think about taking a pet to the fair. My mom's name is Ruby also. I think I will tell her about that, I'm sure she won't think its as amusing as I do. funny!

Thanks. She is very happy. Luckily her snake is too small for a make-over like she gave the mammals of the household today lol. All done with-out upsetting them too much of course but still I am sure Ruby the snake appreciated being handled but not decorated.
