Herp Room Remodel
I have spent pretty much the entire day cleaning and remodeling my herp room. This is just temporary, because I will be getting a bunch of new, front-opening cages from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] within the next few months.
This empty wall is where my big, front-opening arboreal cages for my future tiger rat snakes will go:

Most of my reptiles and amphibians are on this wall:

A couple of geckos, and tons of OCHS items are currently on these racks. I need to figure something out to get this stuff stored somewhere else before I get more snakes:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
This wall has a closet and my "bug rack":

The room will look really good when I get the new cages and find closet space for the raffle and other OCHS items.

Like it. I'm trying to figure out what to put like 2 forty gallons on. Like a shelf strong enough to hold them and enough space inbetween for the dome light on top.

Looks nice Michael! I like to see you are making space for nice big arboreal cages for Tiger Rat Snakes!!! I have a friend that just had a double clutch of Tiger Rat Snake eggs, and I might be getting one if he has one left over for me (but it is looking like all are already sold).

The bottome ones are 40 gallon breeders and the others are 20 gallon longs. I'm getting all new front-opening cages pretty soon to replace them all.
Those shelves I use come from Lowes. They are 79.99 for the 74" tall ones. They are really good shelves and hold 350 lbs per shelf.
Re: Herp Room Remodel
Cool, I might have to get me one. I'm sure the shelves are adjustable.

Yep. They seem a little expensive, but the quality is worth it.
Re: Herp Room Remodel
Those shelves are very common. Not just available at Lowes. Shop around. You can find em online too. Maybe used ones too. They are made very well and last for years so even if all you find is $80, its money well spent.

Not all shelves that look like this are the same. These are "Real Organized" brand. I've tried other brands and they are cheaply made and fall apart. This brand is exclusive to Lowe's, as far as I can tell. The other brands are okay if you are only putting light stuff on them, but if you are going to be putting tanks and critters on them, I highly recommend getting these.

Haha. Yeah, that outlet doesn't even work. We dropped Cox a long time ago for Dish Network, and I ripped all of the Cox cable out. They did a horrible job tacking it around the outside of the house, and it looked horrible. Not to mention, their service and prices are the worst value you can get. That is off topic though.

Michael, did they have any shelves that were shorter (maybe just 3 shelves) or are they all the same size.

There are a few sizes. I got a smaller one for my spiders and there are smaller ones as well.

I'm super excited! I just ordered 8 custom cages from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I will have them on September 25th. It's going to be a long 2 weeks
Re: Herp Room Remodel
Awesome!!! I can't wait to see all of them set up with some stuff in them! Is one (or more) a really large arboreal cage for the future Spilotes?gatsu7 wrote:I'm super excited! I can't wait either. I've been wanting to get some front-opening cages for a long time. No, I didn't order the arboreal cage from them. Alligator Alley has exactly what I'm looking for, and their price is comparable to what glasscages.com charges, but without the shipping charge. When I get ready to get the the tiger rat(s), I'll just get the cage there.
For this order, I got 8 44" X 18" X 13" (perfect fit for my shelves), sliding-front, glass cages. Half of them will have a removeable glass wall I can put in the middle to split them into 2 cages for smaller snakes or other critters. This order is only half of what I eventually want. I will put another identical order in a few months from now. Then I just have to get snakes to fill them
Re: Herp Room Remodel
Wow! That is going to be super nice! Yeah, that cage at AA would be perfect for a pair of Spilotes!!!
