Re: Hognose
Mine also. If snakes have a personality this little guy has lots of it. I love feeding him.

Re: Hognose
Mine is easy going. It's funny feeding him though because he does the puffing sound, I use to call it a hiss until I got a wild caught bull snake, now that's a real hiss. Anyways and he puffs out and looks like he's head butting the prey item. It's hilarious!

Re: Hognose
My Gus is the most congenial snake I've ever had. I hold him up so people can see his dark belly and the kids have used flashlights to look at his scales because he was so small. He will even come up to the glass when I walk by as if to say, "What's up with you?" Travel doesn't bother him and neither did spending several hours in the cellar last month during the tornado breakout. He seems to genuinely enjoy being held and being fussed over. He's had a huddle of women around him like he was a puppy. Too funny.

Re: Hognose
My Hognose is easy going also. Hes a lot of fun to have out. He's always on the go slithering between my fingers. If snakes have personalitys, which I believe they do, he's full of personality. Mine is still a little small and it's so funny watching him when I feed him. I defiantly want more of them.

Re: Hognose
Is there ways to tell if they are male or female without popping? If so does that way apply to all colubrids?

Re: Hognose
Yes and yes for the most part.
However, as with most methods, it's not 100 % accurate.

In addition Roger Conant and Kathy Love both discuss it in their books.
