I never thought I would get so much pleasure out of salamanders but my two tiger sallies are so interesting. I just moved them a 20-gal. long tank which I hope sort of looks like a natural stream with a few adaptations.

I used the foam log I won in the raffle and planted it with pothos (cut little slits in the foam and insert roots). I have made a planter of a piece of cork and flat rocks line the bottom. Lots of pebbles of various sizes strewn about. They swim in about 3-4" of water.

If you haven't tried the foam logs I can tell you they are wonderful filters and can be disquised with plants. Only thing that can be a problem is they have to be affixed to the bottom or they float up when water is added to the tank. I don't want to affix it permanently since I need a way to get to the pump occasionally. I suggest filling the foam log with water before adding it to the tank then add the rest of the decor. Have a towel ready for cleanup. LOL

I'm trying to get a good photo so will post one sometime soon.
