Oklahoma brown tarantula help
Hey everyone I brought home an Oklahoma brown tarantula from the meeting tonight and was wondering, does he/she need a water dish in the enclosure? Thanks

Yes. She (it is a female) will need a very shallow water dish about the same diameter as her. Only use water with no chlorine in it. I use bottled spring water from Wal-Mart ($.88 per gallon). Just give her that and a few good hiding places and throw a few crickets or a roach in once per week, and she will be good to go.

I usually just keep 1 side damp and the other dry, so they can hydro-regulate. It depends on the enclosure. If you are using the tub that she came in, once per week would be fine. More when whe is in pre-molt.

Hey :/ sorry for bothering you so much..what does she need for heat in the winter months? It looks like it's getting cold in her enclosure

You're not bothering me. Getting answers to questions is what the forum is for.
She shouldn't need heat if your house stays in the 70s. If you let it get colder than that, use a ReptiTherm Mini heat pad. It is the smallest one that ZooMed makes, and is rated low enough to use on plastic.

Large crickets will be better. She might just ignore the small ones. Also, only leave them in there for about 12 hours, and remove what she doesn't eat. They can injure her if they decide she looks like food for them. Dubia roaches also make really good feeders, and she was eating those at my house.
