New Dart Vivarium

Post  KasiRVT on Mon Jan 28, 2013 3:10 pm

Here's some photo's of the new dart terrarium that I've recently put together. I decided to get one of Josh's frogs complete dart frog kits for my first go-around. I have an empty 40 gallon that I'd like to experiment with at a later time (maybe as a post graduation gift to myself next year). Here's some pictures of the final set up. Josh's frog's kit is pretty nice. Only complaint is that I don't feel like they provide enough of the ABG mix for the tank that came with it ( 2 gallons of ABG mix in an 18x18x24 set up). It maybe filled up to a little over an inch, but with the moss the ground level is over 2 inches. I've ordered 4 more gallons of ABG mix, 1-2 gallons to add to the vivarium and the additional 2 to gut out a now empty 18x18x18 exoterra vivarium. I'm looking into getting either a pair/trio of D. auratus costa rican green and black or D. auratus Highland bronze. Anyway, the kit came with a variety of 10 different plants, two vines, 4 tropical plants, 2 types of ferns, and 2 bromeliads. All but one plant survived shipping, but I guess that's the risk you take. Up to this point I havn't been a huge plant person, but this project has changed my outlook on that. Anyway, here are the pics of the terrarium, with complete with Senor Frog.
Here's a pic of the whole viv

Your dart frog habitat look wonderful. It will continue to change before your eyes as the plants grow. My dart frog tank is so old it very overgrown and needs a major redecorate but the frogs are doing so well I hate to disturb anything. I'll probably just trim the pothos and order some new plants from Josh's pretty soon. Continued good luck.
