Scott, are you talking about the yolk sac on the plastron? That contains nutrients for the first few days.

My Grandma would say "cute as a bug's ear." I think just to make me twitch with its inaccuracies. LOL. Tandy

Kinda worried. The little guys eyes are swollen so I'm keeping them warm and have the container tilted so they can chose the wet end or a dryer spot. If not better by tomorrow I may have to make a trip to Dr. Minson. Been searching on internet for brand new out the shell baby eye problems but can't find exactly what I want. Called Bryan and an expert in Ohio even. Got same advice.

The babies are doing much better, treating the eyes with Vit. A drops and starting them on kale (the highest Vit A vegetable) plus sweet potatoes, green beans & romaine helped them perk up. They are little piggies on the finely chopped kale and what a mess when they tromp around in the baby food green beans. I feed them in a separate container. I also set their habitat outside in filtered sunlight in early morning for 2 hrs. to catch some healthy rays. One has some wrinkles in his carapace and is slightly smaller.

The babies are growing and getting to know me, anticipating some yummy food will come their way soon. They are about the size of half-dollar now. They eat baby food veggies with aquatic hatchling pellets or Proplan pellets crushed, collard and Romaine, chopped sweet potatoes all with a pinch of calcium. They will soon move from the plastic shoe box to a sweater box with coconut fiber, spaghnum moss, tiny pond, pvc hides made by Pat H. and a live plant or two. Minced some apple into food and they didn't seem to like it. The smaller one likes to sit on the warm spot and Crush always loads up moss on his back. It's amazing to watch them develop.

Update on RF eggs: the three eggs remain very transparent and I don't see evidence of shadows or veins when I "candle" them. They will remain in the incubator though for 150-200 days or until they begin to rot or collapse (or both).
