Sugar gliders Empty Sugar gliders

Post  MissJennieL Thu Jul 14, 2011 9:54 am

I know this has nothing to do with Herps, but maybe somebody on here can help me out.

I am looking to get a breeding pair of sugar gliders. If you or anyone you know has them, please let me know as I would like to get a pair very soon.

Thanks!!

Be careful you might get what you ask for. For some reason those things are wanted, then in a month- not wanted. They are always on craigslist with people getting rid of them. Must be a reason. Let us know what you think.

Thanks. The little pastel is my only ball morph as of right now, but we have a few nice looking normals.

I've always wanted sugar gliders. Finally got my hubby talked into it. Lol. I hope they are worth the wait. They are a breeding pair and supposed to have babies in the pouch now. We shall see!
I will be breeding rats, snakes, and sugar gliders. I'm glad my dogs and cat are fixed. Don't need anymore babies. Lol.

I'll let y'all know how it goes. I'm sure it'll be an interesting experience to say the least. Ha ha!

Keep getting amazing colored breeders like that. Even if the cost a little more. Don't see something amazing, keep your money till you do. And then pray like we all do they don't fade.... sigh

One of the biggest issues with them is being nocturnal. They can be a little grumpy if people ask them to be active during the day and then want to make noise all night. Their nectar, insect, etc. diet also makes them messy and they can have an odor if cleaning is not meticulous.

Oh yeah, I had no idea how bad they'd stink! Lol. It's like a ferret. The lady I got mine from only gave me one hammock a couple pouches and a corner hammock for them and they were not cleaned anytime recently, so the smell is extra bad.
I just found a website where I can make my own hammocks and pouches for their cage, so I will be able to switch them out and wash them when I do my dogs laundry each week, so hopefully that'll help cut down on the odor.
Preparing their fresh foods nightly isn't too bad since I already have to do that for the orphaned opossum I'm raising. So I was already prepared for that.
My gliders sleep nearly the whole day and start becoming active around 10 pm. They're fun to watch, but they still aren't very sure about me. I'm gradually easing them into their new home before I start trying to handle them too much. Don't wanna stress the poor things too much. Lol
